Disposables FAQ

Hello Lovelies, admittedly I'm procrastinating yet again but I haven't written a blog post in a while, it feels like that anyway so here I am trying my best to write something that I hope you will enjoy reading whilst I think about starting my Sociology work. As I've mentioned in previous posts I have a blog on Tumblr. This blog consists of various band photos along with photos taken on disposable cameras.

Here are the disposable cameras that I use. They come with instructions on the back that are quick and simple to follow.

Some of you may be thinking that it seems a little odd that I choose to take photos on such a 'poor' quality camera when I can afford to buy a digital camera so I've devised a list of the most frequently asked questions I get on tumblr regarding disposable cameras.

How do you get that effect on your photos?
Honestly there's really nothing to it. When you're taking any photo on a disposable camera you have to make sure that the flash is on so you get the 'grunge' effect. It also helps if you switch all the lights off and make the room as dark as possible.

Where can I buy disposable cameras?
I usually buy mine from Boots but you can buy them from a lot of different shops including places online such as Amazon.

Where do I get my disposables developed?
Usually the place where you bought your camera from will have a photo developing facility. If not I would recommend Boots because you can have your photos developed within an hour whereas with a lot of places you would need to go back the day after.

How many photos can you take on disposable camera?
I can take 27 photos on the ones that I buy, although I think it varies deepening on the make of camera you buy.

How much does it cost to buy a camera and then get the film developed?
The disposable cameras that I buy are £8.50  each but there are also cheaper and more expensive alternatives. I think I pay around £7.00 to get my photos developed although I can't quite remember. That includes getting the photos on a CD as well.

Do your friends think it's weird that you take photos on a disposable camera?
Some of them thought it was weird at first but I've been taking disposables since I was three years old, although people's heads were usually missing from the pictures. I know a few other people that use disposables as well so it isn't that weird anymore.

Why do you choose to take disposables and not digital ones?
I think disposables cameras are much easier to use when you're out because you're not worrying about dropping or smashing them like you would with a digital camera. I just really love the effect that you get with a disposable camera. If you take photos in the dark you get a grunge effect but if you take them in the light you get a warm, vintage effect. I love how there's people on Tumblr like myself who have blogs dedicated to disposables because we can reblog each others photos, yay.

How can I make socks interesting to read about?

Hello lovelies, here we are again. Today's blogpost may not sound too exciting from the title but I really felt it was necessary to show off one of my recent purchases. You may remember from this post, that I mentioned I wanted to buy some Lace Trim Socks from Topshop. I never buy socks and after browsing Topshop and finding nothing that I was particularly interested in I decided to take a look at the section that has all the socks and tights in it. Socks always seem like a bit of a waste of money to me which is why I get my mum to buy me the cheapest ones that she can find, which usually end up being the most boring ones so for once I decided to treat myself and invest in three pairs of the cutest ankle socks I have ever seen.

Look at how cute they are!

The lace on the top and the patterns make them look so dainty and pretty.

It was very difficult to make a decision on which ones to buy as Topshop had so many of these socks with a lace trim, however I went for a burgundy pair with a black trim, a navy blue pair that has white polka-dots and a black trim and a dusty pink pair with a white trim. It's impossible for me to pick which ones are my favourite but I have no doubt that I'll be returning to Topshop to buy some more!

Styling Tips
Originally I bought all three pairs with the intention of wearing them during the Summer with cute dresses, however I realised that depending on how you style them you can wear them all year round. Here I wore them with my new Doc Martens. You can't see the pattern on the socks but you can see the lace trim at the top giving the Docs a more girly look. In this particular outfit I was wearing leggings but I've since styled these socks with tights and creepers. Obviously they can also be worn with bare legs and a pretty dress.

If you're interested in purchasing a pair or a number of pairs of these socks you can click here and have a look through the selection that Topshop have to offer! They cost £3.50 for one pair or you can pay £8.00 for three pairs.

I'm sorry if this blog post hasn't been the most exciting for you all to read but I felt really excited about sharing them with you all.

My New Year's Resolutions

Hello lovelies,

Long time no see. Wow, it's been months since I last made a blog post but since it's the new year I thought I'd make a few changes to my life, updating my blog more regularly being one of them! For the first time in my life I've decided to make promises to myself that I'm going to try my best to keep (I'm really bad at keeping promises to myself but I'm going to try my best -.-). I've come up with seven resolutions that I thought I'd share with you below (I tried to think of ten but failed).

1. Blog More - As I mentioned briefly above I'm going to update my blog more regularly. I started this blog in 2013 with the hope that I'd make at least one post every month if not more, however that didn't happen. During 2014 I will update my blog at least once a month and make a list of ideas in advance so that I'm not stuck for anything to write!

2. Exercise - When it reaches the end of Christmas many people begin to panic about their weight and join a gym at the start of the New Year with the intention of getting into shape. Actually having the motivation to get up of the sofa and go to the gym is usually the biggest task not the physical workout itself. I don't plan on joining a gym this January as I can't afford it but I'm definitely going to do some form of exercise everyday, not to lose weight but to improve my fitness as my stamina is appalling and I'm an extremely lazy person. I don't think it would do me any harm to tone up a bit.

3. Healthy Eating - I already know that this is going to be the most difficult but I really do need to make an effort to eat healthier foods and to eat regular meals. I'm used to snacking and then only picking at my meals because I'm too full from all the snacks which isn't healthy at all. As much as I'd love to be able to live off fruit and vegetables and really healthy foods I know that that isn't going to happen, let alone practical. Since starting sixth form I eat virtually no fruit and veg whatsoever so as part of my New Year's Resolutions I'm going to eat at least one piece of fruit or veg everyday. It doesn't sound like a lot but when you're used to living off bacon butties, chips and cake all day at college you kind of turn down stuff that grows on trees or in the ground. Somehow they don't taste as good.

4. Read and Write More - I feel that during 2013 I haven't read as many books as I could and would like to have done. However, I have written an awful lot over the past year, mainly in the form of diaries along with some (terrible) poetry, which we will speak no more of and I've started writing a few stories. The majority of my 'passion' for reading especially, is taken up by college work and even writing sometimes has become a bit of a chore as my energy is used up on essays. In 2014 I'm going to spend more time writing for myself and I'm going to read more books like I used to.

5. Step away from Tumblr - This website is both the best and worst thing to happen to me. It takes up the entirety of my free time and the majority of the time that I should be spending doing college work. It's changed my perspective on a lot things though and it's given me the opportunity to interact with people from all over the world without me even leaving the house which in my opinion is fucking insane! I've decided that I spend far too much time reblogging the same photos over and over again so it's time to find other things to occupy my time, like, I don't know, college work perhaps…

6. Find a job - Admittedly, this one is going to be difficult given the lack of jobs in Britain at the moment but I'd really love to have a small weekend and holiday job to earn a few extra pennies. This way I don't have to rely on my parents for money to buy clothes and go out with friends.

7. Travel - As much as I'd love to go travelling around the world it just isn't practical right now and I don't have the money to be able to afford it sigh. I don't tend to venture out of the house much unless it's to go out with friends or go to college so I'd like to spend more time this year exploring outdoors and taking photos of my adventures.

I forgot to say in the intro I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas and I wish you all a very happy 2014.

September 2013 Outfit/Wish List

Hello everyone, as sad as a lot of people might be, I'm actually glad that Summer is over and done with. I've never been a fan of overly warm weather; I much prefer it when it's cold outside. There's a lot of clothes and just general bits and pieces that I really want to buy for Autumn and Winter, some of which I've put into a sort of collage below.

1. Motel Rocks - Motel Catalina Off Shoulder Skater Dress - £38
It's probably been said a million times before, but it's true, every girl needs a little black dress in their wardrobe because the styling possibilities are virtually endless. The photo I've used really doesn't do this dress any justice at all. This gorgeous little number is something I would prefer to dress up rather than down, simply due to the dress being off the shoulder in style. I would style it with the socks, shoes and lipstick mentioned below and in the collage above!

2. Office - Ready Or Not Red Suede - £60
Heels of any colour would probably work with this dress, however I chose some bright red ones to add a pop of colour. I think these heels, especially because of the strap, together with the socks would make this outfit look very cute.

3. Topshop - Oat Polka Dot Lace Trim Socks - £3.50
Socks are never something that I go out with the specific intention to buy. In fact, I can't even remember the last time I bought any but this pair on the Topshop website really caught my eye. I love how pretty and vintage they are, especially with the black, lace trim around the top.

4. Mac Cosmetics UK - Russian Red Lipstick - £15
Despite being a complete lipstick junkie I have never owned a Mac lipstick before, shock. I don't tend to wear red lipsticks that often - I tend to sway more towards pinks or red glosses. However, I know that Mac lipstick's are very popular and I've heard this particular colour mentioned many times before. I'd really like to give them a try.
